Weingut Richard Bocking according to The Wine Advocate

"Since 2011, Leweke Freifrau von Marschall, Denman Zirkle and Sigrid Carroll with winemaker Simon Trös, are trying to link to the great tradition of the Richard Böcking estate in Traben-Trarbach that was established in 1623, and made the Trarbacher Ungsberg (which was 50% planted with Riesling already in 1669) to one of the most prestigious vineyard sites in the Mosel until the late 18th century. For this report I tasted two vintages of the three Trarbach grands crus from ungrafted vines: Ungsberg, Schlossberg and Burgberg. Traditionally made in fuders or old barriques and kept on the lees until late July after the harvest, this is an estate to watch."

WINE ENTHUSIAST

Wine Enthusiast Magazine

(December 2014)

2012 Alte Reben Trarbacher Burgberg Riesling - 91 PTS

"Whiffs of candle wax and lime zest accent pretty floral notes on this slightly off-dry Riesling. Flavors of yellow cherries and peach are juicy and ripe on the palate, extended through the finish with steely streaks of mineral and acid. It's an elegant wine with power and complexity. — A.I."

WINE & SPIRITS

(December 2014)

Year's Best German Riesling

Our blind panels tasted 385 new-release German rieslings over the past 12 months. Tara Q. Thomas, our critic for Germany, rated 102 as exceptional (90+) and 46 as Best Buys.

Weingut Richard Böcking ist mit zwei Weinen dabei, mit 90 und 92 Punkten!

"Pulled from Bocking's oldest vineyards, the vines ungrafted and 50 to 80 years old, this is brutally mineral, a wall of stony flavor. Picked toward the end of October and vinified entirely in stainless steel, it's ripe but severe, with no apparent fruitiness. And yetit fills the mouth, its force and presence promising more flavor to come with time."
